Another busy week at work, but I managed to do some other stuff for my personal work though. I spent a bit of time gathering references and thinking about the pillars of my next environment, but the thing I spent the most of my time on this week is finishing a compilation of all the different weekly blog tips I have been writing for every blog that I do.
Weekly tips compilation on patreon
I have released this compilation on my patreon page and is available for everyone that donates a tiny bit a month to help me out and thank me for the work that I have been doing in my own time, I will add though, that all my blogs are publicly still available so it's more a qualiy of life thing and a way to support me for the tips/tricks in general.
The only thing that is different is that a lot of the older tips are in a different format on my blog and are updated to the new format in this compilation!
So if you are interested in this please head over to:
Expanding my discord group
I don't think that I have mentioned this up until now but I have been working on a discord group for people that are trying to get into the industry as Environment artists, at this moment it is super small with only 2 people there but I want to focus on balancing my time and scheduling it properly so I can give honest feedback, do overpaints and help them as best as I can.
And currently it's going well! I'm really enjoying it and I think that the people that are in it enjoy it as well! (at least I hope so hahaa)
With all of this I am still playing games, and I have made the habit of recording them as well. Might be nice to cover some environmental storytelling and building environments in games and really digging into some cool stuff! We will see.
Spend a bit of time gathering some more reference for my personal project, but not much has changed on that front, I hope I can get some time this weekend to do some actual work! :D
Continued work on tutorial for Master Materials in Unreal Engine
Still working on this tutorial during my commute, it's getting to a fairly decent place, and once I have added a ton of picture I'm sure that I will be able to fill a fair amount of pages, now it's just about doing a bit more research and testing and writing all that down as well.
Ofcourse as always I will keep you in the loop on any updates! :D
Look at this stunning piece, I cam across his work a long while ago on twitter, there was this super nice gif of a fox crossing the street int he middle of the forest. I was struck by the use of colours ever since, it's so amazing to see the bold use of them, giving the whole scene a nice sense of mysticism and wonder.
Then combine this with the nice geometrical shapes of all the foliage and the stag as a focal point and I can really feel myself be drawn into this as an experience. And it also serves as a reminder that you should not be afraid to use colours if you have a nice colour pallete.
Thanks so much for inspiring me Mikael Gustafsson!
That's going to do it for me for this week, I'll catch you in the next one!
If you want to see something added to this blog, or if you were inspired by a piece of art this week, please share it down in the comments, would love to see what drives you to create your art!
